TALKING BLUES: LUTHER DICKINSON & PETR VIZINALuther Dickinson není jen jeden z nejvýraznějších kytaristů současné americké roots music. Je také člověkem, který vyrůstal přímo uvnitř hudební tradice severního Mississippi – mezi hudebníky jako R. L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough nebo Otha Turner – a už třicet let ji s North Mississippi Allstars posouvá dál.
V novém festivalovém formátu Talking Blues ho tentokrát neuslyšíme s kytarou na pódiu, ale v hodinovém rozhovoru s Petrem Vizinou. O Jimu Dickinsonovi a vyrůstání v muzikantské rodině. O tom, co se lze naučit od starých bluesmanů a co se z desek naučit nedá. O produkování hudby pro jiné, spolupráci, studiové práci, hudebním egu, nedokonalosti, rodině a předávání tradice další generaci.
A samozřejmě také o otázce, která je pro Blues Alive zásadní: jak respektovat minulost a přitom z blues neudělat muzeum?

Luther Dickinson is not only one of the most distinctive guitarists in contemporary American roots music. He also grew up inside the musical tradition of North Mississippi, surrounded by musicians such as R. L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough and Otha Turner, and has spent three decades carrying that tradition forward with North Mississippi Allstars.
In our new Talking Blues series, we will meet Luther away from the concert stage for a one-hour conversation with Czech journalist and radio host Petr Vizina. They will talk about Jim Dickinson and growing up in a musical family, lessons learned from the older blues masters, producing music for others, collaboration, studio work, musical ego, imperfection, family and passing a tradition on to the next generation.
And, inevitably, about a question that lies at the heart of Blues Alive: how do you respect the past without turning blues into a museum?
The conversation will be held in English.
