The Burslem Port Trust seeks to reopen the Burslem Branch Canal, creating new waterside facilities to deliver sustainable leisure, tourism and thus employmen through a major regeneration project which will extend from the Trent and Mersey Canal to the former Shropshire Union warehouse in lower Burslem.The completed project will deliver the partially re-opened canal, a mooring basin in a newly constructed pool alongside the wharf of the renovated historic warehouse, in which there will be retail, crafts, cafe and community arts facilities, and outdoor/sporting activities along the canal side.
