About this Event
‘Everything was new once’ is a truism that it is easy to take for granted. In many towns and cities, buildings from different historic eras sit happily check by jowl. However, when we encounter a new addition (built in our lifetime) our reaction is often negative. Why?
The talk will explore the issue of ‘building on’: the challenge of adding contemporary architecture to an historic setting. It will include several international exemplars and highlight how StudioKAP has applied lessons from them in our own projects realised in Pollokshields. Finally, some questions will be posed about what a conservation area of the future might look like.
Time: Doors open 7pm for 7:30pm start.
Tickets: £6.00 with refreshments, no booking necessary. Cash and card payments accepted.
