DO YOU SOMETIMES SPEAK BEFORE YOU THINK?
Have you ever said something in the heat of the moment and immediately wished you could take it back?
Perhaps you become angry and your words become sharp.
Perhaps someone says something that triggers you and you react before you have had time to think.
Perhaps you send the message you shouldn't have sent.
Raise your voice.
Say something hurtful.
Bring up something from the past.
Make a threat you don't really mean.
Or say something simply because you want the other person to feel the pain you are feeling.
And afterwards you think:
"Why did I say that?"
Perhaps the real issue isn't that you don't know how to communicate.
Perhaps you haven't learned how to pause between what happens to you and what you do next.
Taking Control of My Tongue & My Reactions is a one-day online course designed to help women understand their emotional triggers, manage their reactions and become more intentional about the words they choose.
WHAT THIS COURSE IS ABOUT
Your tongue can build.
Your tongue can destroy.
Your words can heal.
Your words can wound.
And sometimes a sentence spoken in ten seconds can create damage that takes months to repair.
The same is true of reactions.
Something happens.
You feel something.
You react.
And only afterwards do you realise that your reaction was bigger than the situation.
This course explores how to create a space between:
WHAT HAPPENS
and
WHAT I DO ABOUT IT.
That space is where choice lives.
You cannot control everything people say or do.
But you can learn to take greater responsibility for:
Your words.
Your tone.
Your reactions.
Your behaviour.
Your boundaries.
Your response.
WHAT YOU WILL EXPLORE
1. KNOWING YOUR TRIGGERS
What makes you react?
Feeling ignored?
Being criticised?
Feeling disrespected?
Being misunderstood?
Feeling rejected?
Being controlled?
Feeling unheard?
Learn to identify the situations and emotions that activate you.
Awareness comes before change.
2. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RESPONSE AND A REACTION
A reaction is often immediate.
A response is intentional.
A reaction says:
"You hurt me, so I'm going to hurt you back."
A response says:
"You hurt me, and I need to decide what I want to do with that."
Learn to create a pause between emotion and action.
3. LEARNING TO PAUSE
You don't have to answer immediately.
You don't have to defend yourself immediately.
You don't have to send the message.
You don't have to finish the argument.
You don't have to say everything you're thinking.
Learn practical ways to pause when emotions are rising.
Stop. Breathe. Think. Choose. Speak.
4. TAKING CONTROL OF YOUR TONGUE
Words have consequences.
Explore the difference between:
Honesty and cruelty.
Assertiveness and aggression.
Expression and attack.
Truth and punishment.
Learn how to say what you mean without deliberately trying to hurt another person.
5. STOPPING THE WORDS YOU CANNOT TAKE BACK
When emotions are high, we may say:
"I hate you."
"We're finished."
"You're just like everyone else."
"I wish I never met you."
"You'll never change."
"I don't care."
Sometimes those words are not what we genuinely mean.
Learn how to recognise the moment when your emotions are trying to speak for you.
6. UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS UNDER YOUR ANGER
Anger is often not the first emotion.
Underneath anger may be:
Hurt.
Fear.
Rejection.
Sadness.
Disappointment.
Loneliness.
Feeling powerless.
Learn to ask:
"What am I actually feeling underneath this anger?"
When you understand the real emotion, you can communicate the real need.
7. STOPPING THE NEED TO WIN
Sometimes we don't want resolution.
We want to be right.
We want the other person to admit they were wrong.
We want the last word.
We want them to feel what we felt.
Explore what happens when winning the argument becomes more important than protecting the relationship.
Learn to ask:
"Do I want to be right, or do I want to resolve this?"
8. TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR REACTIONS
Other people can trigger emotions in you.
But they don't automatically control what you do next.
Learn the difference between:
"You made me do it."
and
"What you did affected me, but I am responsible for my response."
Taking responsibility doesn't mean accepting blame for someone else's behaviour.
It means owning your own.
9. LEARNING WHEN TO SPEAK AND WHEN TO BE SILENT
Silence can be wisdom.
But silence can also be avoidance or punishment.
Learn to distinguish between:
Healthy silence
and
The silent treatment.
Sometimes the most powerful response is:
"I need some time before I respond to this."
Not because you are afraid to speak.
But because you want to speak wisely.
10. CREATING YOUR PERSONAL RESPONSE PLAN
What are your triggers?
What words do you need to stop using?
What situations require you to pause?
What helps you calm down?
What do you need to communicate differently?
What boundaries do you need?
What will you do the next time you feel yourself losing control?
Create a personal pause-and-respond plan that you can use in real-life situations.
THIS COURSE IS FOR YOU IF...
You are a woman who:
- Speaks before thinking
- Reacts strongly when angry
- Says things you later regret
- Sends emotional messages
- Finds it difficult to control your tone
- Raises your voice during conflict
- Becomes defensive quickly
- Struggles to calm down once triggered
- Brings up the past during arguments
- Wants to have the last word

- Finds it difficult to pause before responding
- Wants greater emotional self-control
- Wants to communicate without attacking
- Wants to stop reacting from anger
- Wants to become more intentional with her words
- Wants greater peace in her relationships
- Wants to become the woman who chooses her response rather than being controlled by her reaction
WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY
By the end of this one-day experience, you will have:
Greater awareness of your triggers
Understand what situations and emotions cause you to react.
A better understanding of your reactions
Recognise what happens emotionally and physically before you lose control.
Practical pause techniques
Learn how to create space between emotion and action.
Better control of your words
Learn how to communicate honestly without deliberately causing harm.
Greater emotional responsibility
Understand that you can acknowledge what someone did while still taking responsibility for your own response.
Improved conflict skills
Learn how to approach difficult situations without immediately escalating them.
A personal response plan
Create practical strategies for handling your next trigger differently.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT BECOMING QUIET
Taking control of your tongue does not mean becoming silent.
It doesn't mean allowing people to disrespect you.
It doesn't mean suppressing your feelings.
It doesn't mean becoming passive.
And it doesn't mean pretending everything is fine.
You still have a voice.
The goal is to use that voice with intention.
You can be angry and still be respectful.
You can be hurt and still communicate.
You can disagree without attacking.
You can set a boundary without screaming.
You can say no without insulting someone.
You can walk away without creating destruction.
Self-control is not weakness.
Self-control is power.
