A monthly dance gathering exploring underground rhythms, movement traditions, and contemporary dance cultures from around the world.
For TABÚ 002, we turn toward Brazil — its deep Afro-diasporic roots, percussive traditions, dance cultures, and the unmistakable rhythms that connect street, club, carnival, and community.
Each TABÚ gathering brings together dance instruction, live percussion, DJs, food, local beverages and elixirs, and an open dance floor—creating a space for learning, listening, eating, moving, and connecting.

Led by Olissa Francisco + live percussion group
An energetic introduction to the movement traditions of the African Diaspora, with a special focus on Samba Reggae from Brazil.
Drawing from Brazilian dance traditions, Afro-Fusion, club movement, and contemporary forms, Olissa creates an accessible space to learn, sweat, connect, and find your own groove.
All levels welcome.

Plus Live Brazilian Percussionists
A night of Brazilian and Afro-diasporic rhythms moving through samba, baile funk, batucada, AfroBrasil, tropical sounds, global club music, funk, soul, house, and HEAVY REMIXES of the aforementioned.
Live percussion meets the DJ booth and the dance floor.
BISI OBERATU AKA AFROBISIAC
Bisi is a Nigerian world music fusion artist using his sound as an intersection for movement and philosophy. He is a globetrotting performer, dancer, explorer, and songwriter. Bisi brings a unique presence to the stage whether he is performing live original tracks on guitar or singing over his Afropop/Afrohouse beats. The melodies and rhythms captivate his audience on the dance floor or accompany a space as the soundtrack to your activity.
Bisi continues to play a variety of covers on guitar, from pop to global sounds. His folk sensibilities combined with his Yoruba roots have produced records like Not Tday, Home & Lovaboat. You can find Bisi musing crowds at his shows or on the internet.
He works with Glide Memorial Church which has given Bisi access to a powerful platform to build and uplift the community through art and a commitment to social justice. Bisi is known for his warmth, unrelenting work ethic, incredible talent and adaptability, and mutual reverence for young folks.
OLISSA FRANCISCO
Dance Leader · Movement Artist
Olissa is one of TABÚ’s resident dance leaders, bringing more than 30 years of experience across dance traditions from around the world.
Her Afro-Fusion classes explore and celebrate movement traditions from South Africa, West Africa, Brazil, Cuba, and the wider African Diaspora alongside contemporary club culture.
Expect sweat, smiles, deep grooves, and serious beats.
DJ TIMOTÉO GIGANTE
DJ, producer, cultural organizer, and lifelong student of the global dance floor.
With more than 20 years behind the decks, Timotéo’s musical world moves through funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz, dub, Latin, Afrobeat, house, disco, Brazilian music, and global club sounds.
He is a co-founder of Laguna Lab, a West Sonoma County arts and culture space, where he curates TABÚ, and founder of The Human Frequency Project, a bicycle-based media initiative exploring culture, place, and belonging through music, interviews, field recordings, and travel.
He co-leads Mood Swing, a live DJ + percussion project with drummer Ethan Schiff.
His work centers on music as a living system connecting people, place, culture, and collective experience.
