and a costume competition.
About this Event
AN IMMERSIVE HALLOWEEN CONCERT
Immersive because you are part of it: the audience comes in costume, and the whole room becomes the show. Not a screening, not a recording — a live orchestra in a historic church, and a hall full of witches, wizards and ghosts.
From the first notes of Hedwig's Theme to the last bars of Danse Macabre, this is the music that made Halloween sound the way it does, played live by the Great Lakes Philharmonic under conductor Anton Yeretsky.
ON THE PROGRAM
John Williams — Hedwig's Theme
John Williams — The Entrance to the Great Hall
John Williams — Christmas at Hogwarts
John Williams — Devil's Dance
Edvard Grieg — In the Hall of the Mountain King
Hector Berlioz — March to the Scaffold, from Symphonie fantastique
Camille Saint-Saëns — Danse Macabre
Vic Mizzy — The Addams Family Theme
Four pieces from the Harry Potter films, three of the darkest masterpieces in the classical repertoire, and the two-finger snap everybody knows.
COME IN COSTUME
Doors open at 7:00 PM with costume check-in and a photo wall. Winners of the costume competition are announced at 8:00 PM, during the concert. Half the room comes dressed up — you will not feel out of place.
BRINGING THE KIDS?
Yes. The concert runs about 60 minutes without an intermission: short enough for young listeners, theatrical enough to hold them. If your child knows Hedwig's Theme, they already know half the program. We recommend ages 7 and up; under 16 attend with a parent or guardian.
The Great Lakes Philharmonic is a professional orchestra and a registered Canadian non-profit based in Etobicoke. Your ticket supports live orchestral music in Toronto.
Trinity-St. Paul's is a three-minute walk from Spadina station, on the Bloor line.
