Under the direction of Music Director Robert Carter Austin, Symphony Arlington brings together professional musicians from across North Texas for an evening celebrating one of America’s most beloved and distinctive composers.
From the irresistible theatrical energy of the Overture to Girl Crazy and the intimate beauty of Lullaby to the playful charm of Promenade, the program showcases the remarkable range of George Gershwin’s music.
The orchestra then takes audiences to the streets of 1920s France with An American in Paris, Gershwin’s colorful and exuberant portrait of an American traveler experiencing thesights and sounds of Paris.
The evening culminates with pianist Simone Sala joining Symphony Arlington for Gershwin’s spectacular Piano Concerto in F Major, a work that combines the excitement of jazz, the sweep of the symphony orchestra, and the virtuosity of the concert piano.
