Switch N Swing is a partner dance where nobody's stuck in one role. Instead of Lead and Follow, partners are the Mover, who decides the movement, and the Groover, who creates the groove within it. You swap back and forth in every step, so everyone learns the whole dance.We swing both ways. Lead, Follow, Switch - Just Swing!
No partner needed, no experience needed. Good for complete beginners, and for West Coast Swing or 4-Step Swing dancers who want to break out of their usual role. The basis of Switch N Swing style is 4 Step Swing, but we incorporate some techniques from West Coast Swing to smooth our dance, and to shape and have a dance conversation that adds to the individuality of every dance partnership.
10:30 am – 12:30 pm workshop, then half an hour of social dancing, then lunch together at Lulie Tavern, a few doors along at 225 Johnston St (meals and drinks extra).
Getting there: Victoria Park station (Mernda and Hurstbridge lines) is a minute's walk away. The 207 bus from the city runs along Johnston St and stops near the studio. If you're driving, there's free 2- and 4-hour street parking in the surrounding streets, or $6 all-day parking at the Victoria Park station car park off Lulie St.
