It got a lot of airplay, and the next releases were on 7” vinyl, including Indies Of the World, which made it into the UK vinyl Top 10. Formed in Swansea in 1989, The Sweetest Ache became a distinctive Sarah Records' voice, beloved for classic releases such as If I Could Shine, Tell Me How It Feels, Everlasting, and their acclaimed debut LP Jaguar. Following a three-decade hiatus, original members Simon Court (vocals), Peter Stone (guitar), and Stuart Vincent (guitar) have reunited alongside long-time friend Dave Jones (bass).
Their debut Newport appearance is set to highlight tracks from brand-new album, Reframed (out November 9th via Windmill Records / Shelflife / Old Bad Habits). Featuring acoustic reinterpretations of their Sarah Records back catalogue alongside fresh new material, Reframed marks the band's first major release in over 30 years.
Newport will be among the first to hear selections from the new album performed live, ahead of a series of appearances in 2026/27 that will see the band showcase tracks from Reframed at festivals and venues across the UK and Europe, including the Málaga and Athens Pop festivals.
