Before the turkey, dressing, mac and cheese, and sweet potato pie take over our lives, let's get those legs moving!
Join GVL Roots & Routes: Black Hikers for a fun, relaxing walk along the Swamp Rabbit Trail and through beautiful Unity Park!
We're keeping this one simple. No mountains to climb, no rocky trails to conquer, and definitely no need to question your life choices halfway through the hike!
This easy 3.7-mile loop is perfect for beginners, casual walkers, and anyone who wants to enjoy some fresh air, good conversation, and a few laughs before the Thanksgiving festivities begin.
We'll enjoy the scenic beauty of Unity Park, peaceful views along the Reedy River, and the paved pathways of the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
Along the way, we'll take a short break at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe, where everyone can relax, grab a coffee, enjoy a snack, or simply catch up with fellow walkers. Just remember, we're stopping for a break, not a full Thanksgiving rehearsal dinner!
And don't worry, we're not trying to break any speed records. This is a social walk, not Army basic training!
Whether you're a seasoned hiker or someone whose longest walk lately has been from the couch to the refrigerator, you're welcome to join us!
What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, water, weather-appropriate clothing, a little spending money if you'd like something from the cafe, and a good sense of humor.
Come walk, laugh, connect, and enjoy the company of some amazing people. Let's get a few miles in before Thanksgiving dinner has us all considering a second helping and an afternoon nap!
Rooted. Unbound.
