Surviving an Active Shooter
The New Lenox Safe Community Coalition, in partnership with JM Training, is offering a FREE community presentation, “Surviving an Active Shooter Encounter,” on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 7:00–8:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the New Lenox Village Hall.
While no one wants to imagine being faced with an active shooter situation, knowing how to respond can make a critical difference. This presentation will provide practical, easy-to-understand strategies to help individuals stay prepared, make informed decisions during an emergency, and know what steps to take afterward.
Attendees will learn:
- Pre-Incident: Simple ways to stay aware and prepared wherever you go.
- During an Incident: How to properly Run, Hide, and Fight, while evaluating the safest options based on the situation.
- Post-Incident: Important steps to take after escaping or surviving an active shooter encounter.
This presentation is FREE and open to the community. Registration is being handled through Eventbrite, and seating is limited, so advance registration is strongly encouraged.
About the Presenter
Joseph Malone, founder and CEO of JM Training, brings more than 13 years of experience in the United States Marine Corps, including service under Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC Raiders). He has dedicated his career to translating his extensive safety and tactical experience into practical, accessible training for communities across the country.
