We have a deep appreciation for the brave K9 officers who protect and serve our community. After learning about the need for vital resources for the Grand Rapids Police K9 Unit, we were inspired to take action. Initially, our goal was to help provide protective vests for these incredible dogs, but thanks to the generosity of community supporters, all vests were already covered.
Determined to make an impact, we met with the Grand Rapids Police Department to understand their current needs. That’s when we learned about the GRPD K9 Foundation, which provides critical funding for veterinary care and covers expenses for retired police dogs. One of these heroes is Dozer, a dedicated K9 officer who was just three years old when he and his handler were struck by a vehicle traveling 80 mph. Dozer survived but suffered neurological damage to his back legs, forcing him into early retirement.
These K9s put their lives on the line daily, and we believe they deserve our full support—both during and after their service.
That’s why, after numerous meetings with the Police Department and City, we are thrilled to announce a Benefit Event for the GRPD K9 Foundation! This exciting, family-friendly event will be open to the public and will feature:
