About this Event
This three-hour training will provide participants with an understanding of how ADHD presentation differs in adults versus children, as well as sociocultural factors that affect both presentation and perception of ADHD sufferers with membership in oppressed groups.
The course will cover identification of clinical signs of ADHD in adults, appropriate referral to psychiatric and other support providers, basic principles of psychopharmacological treatment strategies, coping with stigma, processing late diagnosis grief, and teaching skills to support clients’ executive functioning.
4 CEs available to NYS LMHCs, LMFTs, LCSWs, LMSWs, LCATs, NYS Licensed Psychologists and NYS Licensed Psychoanalysts provided by Hudson Valley Professional Development, LLC upon successful completion of training.
Objectives:
Upon completion of training, participants will be able to:
-verbalize an understanding of the defining characteristics of ADHD.
-identify common ways in which ADHD presentation varies across populations.
-identify common barriers to clients’ receiving comprehensive ADHD care, and support them in overcoming said barriers.
-teach clients skills that will support their executive functioning.
-identify and dispel common sociocultural misconceptions about ADHD.
In accordance with the NY State Department of Education guidelines, in order to receive continuing education contact hours, a participant needs to be present for the duration of the workshop/training. Therefore, participants who arrive late or leave the event early will not be granted a certificate of completion.

About The Presenter:
Monique Dauphin is a licensed mental health counselor who has specialized in treatment of post-traumatic stress and related disorders since 2013.
Monique has held several positions in Dutchess County’s coordinated interdisciplinary response to interpersonal violence working with both offenders and survivors, during which time, she developed an interest in the ways in which ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders interact with community struggles such as cycles of interpersonal violence and addiction.
As a late-diagnosed ADHD sufferer herself, Monique developed a passion for identifying ADHD in adults and supporting them through late diagnosis. Now in private practice as a certified ADHD Clinical Services Provider, Monique specializes in treating highly sensitive adults with PTSD, ADHD, and/or a combination of the two.
