“Traditionally, this Sunday is our Bread Communion, our acknowledgement of the the start of our holiday season. But we all know there are two sides to the Thanksgiving story. As well as asking you to bring a bread to share, Dr. Katie Boone will be sharing a heartfelt invitation to engage with and support the Makatoh Reconciliation and Healing Youth Horse Ride this December. This 330 mile, 16-day ceremonial horse ride comes to our community every December. The rides have been coming since 2005, to honor and remember the Dakota 38 who were hanged in our downtown by the order of President Lincoln on December 26, 1862. You’ll learn more about the history of what happened here, why it happened, and what the Makatoh Reconciliation and Healing Youth Horse Ride is doing to build community by working together as good relatives to support truth, healing, and reconciliation work here in our community of Mahkato (Mankato), Mni Sota (Minnesota) and beyond. Bring a traditional or favorite family recipe for bread to share, pre sliced if possible. We will share together, and during the fellowship hour that follows.” Click the link below for full service details.https://uumankato.com/services/bread-communion-and-makatoh-reconciliation-and-healing-horse-ride/
