About this Event
Fall is often considered the ending of the garden season: a matter of just rapping the garden up. But there is a lot that we Prairie gardeners can do now to prepare for next seasons gardening…and get a jump start on Spring
Fall gardening activities are part of the continuum of the gardening cycle, with a focus on on soil improvement, compost building, cover cropping, seed saving, planting bulbs and fall sowing, It includes assessing your gardens successes this year; preparing a plan for the bed/garden now so that you can order seeds & bulbs early; plus bringing in those plants you intend to overwinter indoors.
Topics that we will cover include:
Reflecting on this year’s garden successes & lessons
- Planning ahead for 2027
- Planting for heat, drought, and smoke conditions
- Soil improvement, composting & no-till gardening
- Planting garlic and fall bulbs
- Bringing herbs indoors for year-round growing
Hands-On Activities:
- Grow green garlic indoors
- Plant herbs to grow inside over winter

This event will take place in the MAIN HALL at the Sunalta Community Hall. Please enter through the front door with the STAIRS.
