About this Event

This concert is to raise money for the creation of the children’s section in the library. Over the years, numerous musicians have performed and trained in the BMI’s performance spaces and still do. The BMI is a much-loved venue and needs our support. Some of the performers in this concert now have successful careers in the theatre and on the concert platform. Others are gigging musicians or use the singing voice in ministry or teaching and some are choristers of the CBSO and Ex Cathedra. Also featured will be up and coming artists of the future. The BMI played an important part in developing performance artistry. Two performers made their debut performances as young children winning classes in the Birmingham Music Festivals at the BMI and others won BMI competitions and the Mario Lanza prize as students at the Birmingham School of Music. The Mario Lanza Society was based at the BMI for many years. The program will be varied due to the wide variety of musical talents and will include music by composers from the17th century to the present day.
