Suffragette, starring Carey Mulligan, Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter, tells the story of women in early 20th-century Britain who risked their homes, livelihoods, families and freedom in the fight for women’s right to vote.
Here in Aotearoa New Zealand, women won that right in 1893, becoming the first women in a self-governing country to do so. More than 130 years later, their legacy is worth remembering, celebrating, and carrying forward.
Come along, bring a friend, and enjoy a meaningful night at the movies while supporting the everyday mahi of the Heretaunga Women’s Centre.
