About this Event
Her Vote 100 – Grantham Research Group
Tuesday 8 September | 7pm | Grantham Museum
In 2028, we will mark 100 years since all women gained the right to vote on the same terms as men. But how much do we know about the women from Grantham who were part of the movement that helped make this possible?
As part of Her Vote 100, Grantham Museum is launching a new local research group with an ambitious aim: to find the 100+ women from Grantham who were involved in the fight for women’s suffrage and uncover their stories.
We know there were women in Grantham who campaigned, organised, marched, spoke out and supported the movement. Now we want to find out who they were, what they did and what their lives were like.
The first meeting will be an opportunity to find out more about the project, share what we already know and, most importantly, bring together people who are interested in helping with the research.
You don’t need to be an expert in local history or family history to get involved. Whether you enjoy researching archives, newspapers and census records, have a passion for Grantham’s history, or simply want to help uncover the stories of remarkable local women, we would love you to join us.
Together, we can make sure these women are remembered and their stories are told as we look ahead to 2028 and 100 years of women having the vote.
