Inspired by the National Year of Reading 2026, join us for the launch of SUBTEXT, a new exhibition at Stockroom that explores collective reading, the different ways people read, and how different readers bring different perspectives to the same stories.
Be among the first to experience newly commissioned work by Parham Ghalamdar co-produced with the people of Stockport across the summer of 2026. This brand-new work, Subtitles For a Film that Does Not Yet Exist, is a film made through reading: beginning with other people’s books, passing through many readers, and ending somewhere none of those books could have predicted.
Alongside the new work, you’re invited to share your perspective. What does reading mean to you? What does your reading look like? Add your voice to the exhibition.
