Join the ANU Chamber Choir and Vocal Fry, directed by Tobias Cole, for a beautiful program featuring two choral masterpieces composed by Benjamin Britten (1913-1976), whose anniversary we celebrate this year. A Ceremony of Carols and Hymn to St Cecilia were both written on his return to England from the US in 1942 and share a confident and exuberant vocal writing style that has given pleasure to countless singers and audiences since. The program will also feature Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei, his a cappella arrangement of his hugely popular Adagio for Strings. We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Lee, recently returned from Trinity College Cambridge, to play the piano for A Ceremony of Carols.
