From the Southern hemisphere up to the North, Subhira Quintet has flown in the deep roots of the Andes. Open your ears to music with decades of history brought to life again through a modern lens on this once in a lifetime opportunity. Subhira will be joined with Max Forster, Hamilton-born trumpeter and member of Lemon Bucket Orkestra, who will surely take you on a journey.
Subhira Quintet is one of the main World-Jazz Music bands from Chile with a more than 30 year career and 21 released albums. Their music blends native American music from the southern edge of South America with experimental and progressive sounds using elements from folk, jazz and contemporary academic music. They have played festivals and venues from their homeland Chile to Canada, Australia and almost everywhere in Europe.
Composer Rodrigo Cepeda graduated from the Modern School of Music focusing on Jazz and South American folk and has a M.Arts-Composition from the Conservatory of Music from University of Chile, focusing on Indigenous ritual music as source of material for contemporary orchestral music.
Their particular formation is comprised of four women and one man which includes:

Max Forster Trio plays instrumental jazz folk music, blending acoustic and electronic textures into a lush sound world of complex emotions. The music is inspired by Canadiana singer-songwriters, ambient electronic artists, and world folk musics.
