Over three weeks, we'll explore the beauty of loose watercolor by learning to simplify shapes, paint with confidence, and let the brush do the work. You'll even receive an oversized watercolor brush (included with your class) that will become your new favorite tool as we practice bold, expressive brushwork and learn to stop fussing over the details.
We'll complete three beautiful paintings while exploring some of the most important concepts in loose watercolor:
Creating atmosphere with soft washes
Painting expressive trees, water, and architecture
Simplifying complicated reference photos
Using light and shadow to tell the story
Knowing what to leave out (arguably the hardest part!)
Each class begins with fun warm-up exercises designed to loosen your hand—and your mindset—before we dive into the week's painting.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have three finished paintings, a brand-new oversized brush you'll actually use, and the confidence to approach any watercolor subject with a looser, more expressive style.
No experience with loose watercolor is necessary—just come ready to let go of perfection and have some fun. 🎨
