Studio Sessions: Renovation 101
Saturday, October 24 | 2:00–4:00 PM
The Brownstone Boys Studio, Brooklyn
Tickets: $15
Pull up a chair. Let’s talk renovations.
Welcome to our very first Studio Session, an intimate conversation at our Brooklyn studio about the things we know, love, and have learned along the way.
For our first session, we’re going back to basics with Renovation 101.
After years of renovating historic homes across New York City, we’ve learned that the prettiest part of a renovation is usually the easiest part to talk about. The harder conversations? How much is this actually going to cost? Where should I spend? Where can I save? What should I know before I start? And what happens when things inevitably don’t go according to plan?
For two hours, we’re opening up the conversation and getting into the real numbers and decisions behind a renovation. We’ll talk budgeting, renovation costs, timelines, contractors, architects, contingencies, value engineering, where we think it’s worth splurging, and where you can absolutely save. We’ll also share lessons from our own projects, including some things we wish we had known when we started.
And bring your renovation questions!
The best part of Studio Sessions is that we want these conversations to be personal. Bring your own plans, budgets, contractor estimates, renovation dilemmas, or that one decision you just cannot figure out. We’ll leave plenty of time to dig into your questions together and give you our perspective based on real project experience.
Whether you just bought a fixer-upper, are already knee-deep in construction, or are still dreaming about the renovation you might tackle one day, come hang with us.
No gatekeeping. No perfect before-and-afters. Just an honest conversation about what it really takes to renovate a home.
