In education, as in all public programs, the quality of working conditions directly affects the quality of the services workers provide. Higher wages bring more money into public programs and that benefits service users. Cutting funding for education worsens conditions for workers and the students they serve.
This meeting is a chance for education workers, their students, families, and communities to discuss how we can stop the assault on public education. A win for education workers could open the door to a larger battle to preserve and expand all public programs.
Even better, a worker/student fightback across society could end the for-profit system and restructure education to meet OUR needs, not those of the corporate class.
