Please join us on Sunday, October 4 between 1-4 PM at the Cultural Office to kick-off Arts Month with an artist mixer and open house featuring the 'Stronger Together' art exhibition of 34 works by 21 local artists created with regional arts and cultural organizations as inspiration. Enjoy spending time with representatives from these organizations and local artists. Mingle inside and outside at the neighboring park. We'll have free light snacks indoors and Rizuto's Ice Cream truck will be available outside for ice cream purchases!The project celebrates organizations working across music, theater, visual art, dance, film, poetry, cultural heritage, youth arts and multidisciplinary programming. Organizations depicted range from longstanding institutions to newer cultural startups, reflecting both the history and breadth of the region’s creative sector.
Cottonwood issued a public call for art this summer inviting artists to create work inspired by 34 organizations. Artists were invited to create works inspired by the participating organizations and their contributions to the region’s cultural identity. Entries in all media and styles were considered through a juried selection process. The selected artworks are being purchased through underwriting from Herman Tiemens, providing direct financial support to participating artists. Twenty-one artists will have artwork featured in the show. At the conclusion of the exhibition, each work will be given to the organization it represents.
This is the second in a new series of quarterly gatherings for Pikes Peak region artists at the new Cultural Office, 287 E. Fountain Blvd., #100, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
