Overview

The Ethical AI Literacy Programme is a series of sessions which are structured to provide all the necessary information and tools to enable the participants to comprehend and deal with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a responsible way. Each 2-hour session focuses on an important element of AI, such as AI principles, AI use cases, ethical considerations, and the applicable regulations for UK businesses, to provide the attendees with a comprehensive learning experience that is principles based and practical at the same time. Participants are encouraged but not required to attend all sessions.

30th January 2026 - Striking the right GenAI balance

Discover how Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) can enhance genuine output, strategic thinking, and workforce capabilities across healthcare, education, public sectors, and various industries while maintaining compliance and trust. In this session we will present worldwide perspectives and practical case studies examining AI's impact across different fields, providing approaches for ethical, human-centred GenAI adoption. You will explore international research and real-word case studies demonstrating how various sectors are adapting to the rapidly evolving AI landscape. You will leave equipped with knowledge on integrating GenAI responsibly into operations while emphasising openness, equity, and responsibility.

Meet the Instructors

Dr. Soraya Kouadri M

Senior lecturer in Computing, The Open University & Founder of GovernAIse (AI Governance Consultancy).

Soraya brings with her 25 years of experience working in higher education with interests including the design and uptake of human-centric digital systems, with focus on relationships between people and the digital world, addressing issues surrounding, AI, ethics, governance and education.

Massimo Maltempi

Senior AI & Business Consultant, Director MaxMal Consulting, ex-IBM, ex-Google.

Massimo brings 30+ years experience in responsibly designing and delivering technology solutions to business and work related challenges. In the last few years, he has assisted companies as they implement AI solutions to ensure ethical delivery of business results and compliance with applicable global regulations.

This Programme is suitable for those who hold management positions in companies or are entrepreneurs, practitioners, policymakers, and other professionals who are deploying or are considering deploying AI in their organisation who want to go a step further and gain better insights into the possibilities offered by AI. This class is practical, and the sessions are cumulative, so there is no need of having any prior knowledge on AI.
