Strict 2 (Face to Face Day)

STRICT 2 (South-west Training In Critical Care Transfer) is the new and improved regional transfer course developed with expert partners from both adult and paediatric critical care transfer services and with support from the South West Critical Care Network.

This dynamic course will give participants the confidence and knowledge to prepare and transfer complex patients requiring inter-hospital transfer for a variety of clinical reasons, in line with regional transfer services therefore standardising the care patients receive across the South-West, whilst giving the participant confidence in the process of undertaking inter-hospital transfer either with or without regional service support.

The course includes one day of online learning and one day of face to face, maximising the time immersed in simulation and workshops with experienced faculty support,

OBJECTIVES

· Assessing, stabilising and packaging a critically ill patient prior to transfer

· Familiarity with regional transfer services kit, equipment and processes

· Experience of preparing and transferring a patient in an ambulance

· Transporting a variety of patients, both paediatric and adults with complex clinical or logistical conditions including time critical neurosurgical, trauma, burns and bariatric patients.

· Considerations for different methods of transport including aeromedical platforms.
