About this Event
What do a book series, a community library, and a magazine archive have in common? (Hint: it is a lot more than words printed on paper.) Join us for an informative and engaging conversation on the resource sharing, community connectivity, and collaborations essential to projects by Karen Davidov (founder, The Jewelry Library), Iris Eichenberg & Jimena Ríos (co-authors, "Still/ Todavía" and "This sketchbook belongs to /Este cuaderno pertenece a"), and Adriane Dalton (editor, "Metalsmith"). Short presentations will be followed by a discussion on ways that we collectively nurture, deepen, and expand knowledge sharing within the jewelry field.
Contributors:
Artists and educators Iris Eichenberg (Cranbrook Academy of Art) & Jimena Ríos (Taller Eloi, Buenos Aires) will present "Editing the Unspoken: A Jewelry Book Series" sharing about their two current, and two forth coming titles on what surrounds jewelry—grief, memory, drawing, and labor.
Karen Davidov founded The Jewelry Library (TJL) as an extension of her work with librarians, makers, curators, and collectors creating spaces and programs that invite and engage the community. Her talk "The Jewelry Library At Large" shares insights and reflections on TJL since its inception in 2018.
Adriane Dalton will present “Throughlines: the Metalsmith magazine archive.” Dalton is a writer, educator, studio artist, and the current editor-in-chief of Metalsmith magazine. She is a past contributor to Art Jewelry Forum, and a current board member of CraftNOW Philadelphia.
