Got a book you loved? Bring it and swap it?
About this Event

Join us for a joyful book exchange designed to bring young readers together. Each participant brings a gently loved book to swap and shares why they recommend it.

Through casual chats, guided prompts, an art activity, and fun book browsing, kids will connect over stories, discover new authors, and build their own summer reading excitment.

It's all about:

  • sharing stories
  • expressing thoughts and emotions through craft
  • making new connections
  • getting inspired to read more

Because the best book recommendations come from friends.

About the Instructor:

Ms. Judi is a certified third-grade teacher at a Bay Area independent school and previously taught in the San Francisco Unified School District for more than a decade. She brings nearly thirty years of experience working with students from age seven through adulthood.

Ms. Judi has a special passion for upper elementary and middle school literature and has helped many young people discover the joy of reading and begin to see themselves as readers. She believes the right book can spark curiosity, confidence, and connection.

A longtime Sunset resident, she is excited to help strengthen the neighborhood’s sense of community. She believes book clubs for young people are a wonderful way to bring students together to share stories, ideas, and a love of reading.

About Sunset Commons:

Carmen and Steven started Sunset Commons to provide a space to connect and build community through arts and craft activities led by talented local artists. Inspired by a love for creativity and a desire to foster connection in the Sunset District, we envisioned a “third space” where neighbors can gather, unwind, and form meaningful relationships. Our mission is to empower self-expression, boost confidence, and offer an inclusive haven for everyone, from introverts seeking a calm environment to those enjoying health-focused traditional teas. Sunset Commons is not just a business - it’s our way of enriching the community we love and to the city we both grew up in.

*Our events are often photographed and filmed so we can share the fun with our community. If you don’t want to be on camera, no worries—let us know before the event.
