About this Event
Ride the storms to discover your strength. Everyone feels anger. We can get angry for different reasons because it tells us that something we care about has been threatened or that our needs are not being met. However, we want to use safe ways to respond to our strong emotions.
Led by practitioners from Singapore Children's Society, Storm Riders (Children's Edition) is a group-based anger management programme designed for children aged 9 to 12, focused on targeting various cognitive-behavioural difficulties manifested by children with anger or behavioural challenges. We also work with parents, caregivers, and significant adults to resource you with tools and skills to appropriately support your children manage their strong emotions, such as anger.
Special collaboration with LEGO® STEM:
Bricks 4 Kidz® Singapore offers structured STEM programmes for children aged 4–12, designed to develop creativity, problem-solving, and confidence through hands-on LEGO® learning.
Learning Outcome:
- Understand their anger by recognising personal triggers, body signals, different levels of anger, and the underlying feelings and needs that may influence our thoughts and behaviours.
- Develop healthy anger-management skills by learning practical coping strategies and safe, appropriate ways to express and communicate our thoughts and feelings.
- Build mental health awareness by understanding how anger can imapct thoughts, behaviours and mental well-being.
- Strengthen help-seeking skills by identifying trusted adults and supportive network in our lives, understanding when to seek help, and practising how to reach out for support effectively.
- Put learning into practice by a hands-on LEGO® STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) workshop that encourages teamwork, problem-solving, emotional regulation and help-seeking.
- Bring the learning home by involving parents in a closing session where children can share about their learning experience and new skills, while parents learn practical ways to support and refine these skills at home.
Through Student Service @ Children’s Society talks and workshops, we hope to empower family members and other significant adults with the tools and capability to promote overall mental wellness and address distress in children and youth.
