There is something powerful that happens when we sit around a table together. We eat. We listen. We laugh. We recognize pieces of ourselves in someone else’s story. And sometimes, we leave feeling a little less alone.
That is the heart of Stories Over Soul Food, an ASHHO gathering created around something we deeply believe: our stories matter, our cultures matter, and connection matters.
For Hispanic Heritage Month, join us for an intimate evening featuring O. Salazar de Breaux, Olympia author, entrepreneur, and community leader whose creativity is deeply inspired by her Mexican-American heritage, family, food, music, and culture.
She’ll share her story and her debut novel, Sisters of Element, which follows four Mexican-American sisters connected by extraordinary gifts and an unbreakable bond. At its heart, it is a story about sisterhood, resilience, culture, sacrifice, and unconditional love.
And because this is Stories Over Soul Food, we’ll gather over a delicious dinner inspired by the culture we are celebrating.Bring your friends. Bring your family. Bring your coworkers, neighbors, or book club. Come with someone you love—or come on your own and meet someone new.
You don't have to be a reader.
You don't have to know the author.
You simply have to come ready to eat, listen, connect, and be in community.
Stories that connect us.
Food that brings us together.
A community where we belong.
Come take your seat at the table. We’d love to have you there.
