Some stories are written in history books. Others are whispered through generations, passed down by grandparents, shared around firesides, or almost forgotten entirely.
This December, Booked & Bewitched invites you to step into the shadows of Ireland's past for an intimate evening of storytelling, forgotten history, fascinating folklore and extraordinary true stories.
Join us at the beautiful Greville Arms Hotel in Mullingar for a special evening featuring three wonderful guest storytellers, each bringing a different piece of Ireland's history to life.

🕯️ Don Mortell | M**der and Myth
Don Mortell, the voice behind the podcast M**der Under Gaslight, explores the shadowy borderland between true crime and folklore in Victorian Ireland.
From the chilling case of Bridget Cleary in 1895 to Westmeath's own dark history, Don will uncover tales of M**der, mysterious hauntings, phantom carriages and forgotten legends.
Discover stories connected to Mullingar Gaol, Lough Ennell and beyond, where real events became the legends still whispered about today.

Join Dena as she explores the fascinating history of the witches of Ireland.
Discover the traditions, misconceptions and beliefs surrounding witchcraft throughout Irish history, and how the identity of the witch has evolved into modern times.
A journey through history, folklore and the changing understanding of what it means to be a witch.

Join author and psychotherapist Kathleen A. Crinion as she steps into the shadows of the past to breathe life into forgotten history.
Discover how generations of silence were finally broken to reclaim the stolen identity of her great-great-grandmother, who spent 22 years in St Loman's asylum in Mullingar.
A deeply personal and moving story of family history, forgotten lives and a woman's identity finally being remembered.

After hearing from our guest storytellers, we'll be opening the floor to anyone who would like to share a story of their own.
Perhaps your grandparents told you tales of strange happenings, local legends, old Irish traditions or mysterious events that have stayed with you over the years.
Maybe there's a story in your family that has been passed down through generations, or a piece of local history you feel deserves to be remembered.
We would love to hear it!
There is absolutely no pressure to speak. You're more than welcome to simply sit back, listen and enjoy the evening.
But if you have a story worth sharing, this is your opportunity to give it a voice.
Because sometimes the most extraordinary stories are the ones sitting quietly amongst us. 🖤

€15 per person, with refreshments and entry into our prize draw included.
Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite (booking fees apply).
Alternatively, tickets will be available to purchase in person with cash at Bookstation, Mullingar from 6th of November.
Spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended.
