Author Neil Phelps shares stories of the historic Licking County Jail. The Jail served Licking County for nearly a century, from 1889 to 1987. During that time, it housed many criminals including serial killers, thieves, and some of the most heinous murderers Licking County ever experienced. Suicides, jail escapes, sheriffs who died while serving in office, and a lynching are discussed. The history and construction of the jail will also be considered.
