The Tukwila Historical Society is honored to welcome Mohamed Abdi as our next guest speaker for the Stories of Arrival series.Born in a refugee camp in Kenya and raised in Tukwila and Seattle, Mohamed’s journey—from immigrant roots to becoming the youngest City Councilmember in Tukwila’s history—is a powerful testament to resilience, leadership, and community.
A former council member, community organizer, and advocate for racial and social justice, he has dedicated his life to uplifting others—mentoring youth, advancing equity, and championing immigrant and refugee voices.
Join us for the month of April as Mohamed shares his story and reflects on what it means to call Tukwila home. This is a story you won’t want to miss.
