About this Event
Stories at Founder's Square is a live, podcast-style interview series hosted by UrbanWork and Tacoma Rising that highlights the founders, builders, and visionaries shaping the future of our city. Each event brings together Tacoma's business community for real conversations about the work being done to move our city forward.
Hyun Kim runs the City of Tacoma, and he believes the city works best when business, government, and community are building in the same direction.
As City Manager, Hyun oversees the day-to-day operations of the city. He brings a career spanning local government, finance, economic development, infrastructure, and organizational transformation, and he has spent it building strong organizations, communities, and the partnerships that hold them together.
What drives his work is the space where those worlds meet. Hyun is focused on how thoughtful leadership and strong partnerships can create opportunity and long-term economic vitality, and he makes a point of connecting with business and civic leaders, learning from different perspectives, and finding practical ways to turn good ideas into real results.
Hyun holds a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University, a Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University, and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Join us for a candid conversation about leading a city through change, what it takes to build partnerships that last, and how Tacoma's business community can help shape what comes next.
