About this Event
Help plant flower bulbs in Christopher Park that will create a spectacular Spring garden to welcome visitors from across the globe!
For the past 12 years, OutPro has teamed up with the Christopher Park Alliance and NYC Parks to help showcase one of New York’s most iconic places with Pride. It’s the time of year to get our hands dirty again and plant the bulbs for the spring–and you’re invited!
- Together, we will make Christopher Park bloom! Tens of thousands of people from around the world visit the Stonewall National Monument each year. A few hours of volunteer effort can make a lasting difference for both visitors and New Yorkers who enjoy this special park.
- This is our one day each year to plant spring flowers. We’ll provide gardening tools, instructions, and plenty of good company. Simply wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
- Meet motivated, community-minded people! We’ll be joined by volunteers from the Stonewall Society, the NYC Parks Department’s LGBTQ employee group. Volunteers maintain the gardens throughout the monument.
- Come for an hour—or stay all day! Volunteers are welcome to pitch in for as little as an hour or stay for the entire planting session, depending on your schedule.
We’ll be planting from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM—or until all bulbs are in the ground. Then we’ll gather for a group photo and celebrate our work together with Bleecker Street Pizza!
Saturday is the main planting day, with Sunday as the rain date. Registering for Saturday does not obligate you to participate on Sunday.
Come plant, connect, and help Christopher Park bloom! We look forward to seeing you there!
There's nothing quite like seeing the park in the spring – and knowing that you help create its beauty.
