Meet some "residents" of Wappingers Falls and hear their stories in this guided, costumed living history program.
About this Event

Presented by Dani Masterson in collaboration with the Wappingers Historical Society. In this popular living history tour, you’ll be guided through the Wappingers Rural Cemetery to meet some notable persons of Wappingers Falls and hear their stories. Costumed apparitions include: Ruth Houghton Clapp, founder of the Franklindale Baptist Church; Andrew Jackson, village bricklayer and mason; Victor L. Bracone, village war hero and VFW Post 5913; Dr. James Lenox Banks, physician and philanthropist; Zebulon Phillips, War of 1812 soldier who helped build fortifications along the Hudson River in NYC; Georgina Gurney, Social Studies and History teacher for 36 years; Charles H. LeRoy, apprentice engineer on the Messenger steamship; Dan Brouthers, baseball slugger and Hall of Famer; Elias Brown, owner of the Brown Comb Factory.

Afternoon and evening tour times are 2:00, 2:30 3:00, 6:15, 6:40, 7:00, 7:20. 7:45, 8:00, 8:20, 8:45 and 9:00pm. Rain date is Sunday, October 4th. Each tour group size is limited. Youth ages 10 and above are welcome at the afternoon and 6:15pm tours; adults only for the after-dark tours. Due to the uneven terrain in the cemetery, it may be difficult for people with mobility challenges to participate in this event. Evening tours will be guided by lantern, but please feel free to bring along a flashlight if you'd like.

No tickets will be available at the door. Rain date is Sunday, October 4th. Special thanks to the Wappingers Rural Cemetery, County Players and Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home for their involvement and support.
