The 1970s was the decade in which Gladstone Pottery Museum was opened in Longton, when a brand new building, Unity House, changed Hanley’s skyline, when Westport Lake near Tunstall became an attractive new pleasure resort and when people all over the city began to angrily inquire, “How much is THIS in old money?” Mervyn Edwards pulls on his flares and describes the ups and downs of living in Stoke in the Seventies.
