Thursday 29th October 10am-12pm
We'll be reimagining, reworking and repairing clothes sitting unloved at the back of your wardrobe, with the aim of getting them back into heavy rotation again.
You will gain skills in design, sewing, clothes repair and upcycling, get to know more about the impacts of fast fashion and be inspired by the creative ways you can take action.
**AQA Unit Award Scheme** with thanks to funding from Coop Live and Manchester City Council we have been able to expand our youth programme and introduce Unit Award Certificates. During the sessions what the students achieve could earn them multiple certificates for their skills learnt; design skills and even teamwork. There will be more details to come regarding which certificates the participants can acquire.
This is not a structured course, but rather an opportunity to bring your creative ideas to life, with the help of our tutors. You'll go away with skills for life and a collection of creative techniques to refer back to for your future fashion flips. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Schedule for the course (10am-12pm):
Session #1: Get to know each other, share ideas and start making!
Session #2: Develop ideas further and continue skill building and making
Session #3: Finish off projects and wrap up the day with a mini fashion show and photoshoot to celebrate everything you've learned and created.
Level: Beginner, Intermediate
Skills: What you'll learn depends on the projects you choose, but you can expect to learn any of the following: design skills, garment deconstruction and construction, hand and machine sewing skills and clothes repair skills.
