3.1 Miles for 3 Years SoberThree years ago I made a decision I wasn't sure I could keep. On October 9th I get to say I did.
We're celebrating the night before, because I can't think of a better way to walk into three years than with all of you.
What I didn't know back then is that quitting was only half of it. The other half was finding people. Women who show up in the dark, who ask how you're actually doing, who make you laugh so hard mid-run you have to stop and catch your breath. That's what filled the space. We built this community together, and it made every part of this easier.
Every mile we've run together is part of why I'm still standing here. So I want to spend this one with you.
Come out to City Park on Thursday, October 8th at 5:30 PM. We'll meet at the gazebo by the Washington Ave entrance. We'll do 3.1 miles for 3 years, however you want to do them. Walk them, run them, hang in the back and talk the whole way. Wear pink, orange, or your Miles with Her gear. Cupcakes and a big cheers to 3 years when we're done.
If you've never come to anything before, this is a good one to start with. You don't have to be sober. You don't have to be fast. Show up and you'll be one of us by the end of the night.
