About this Event
A concert of early-seventeenth-century music performed on period instruments, featuring music from Música d’Outrora’s acclaimed debut album Still Life, recorded last year here in the wonderful acoustic of our church.
This concert celebrates the birth of the Baroque – a moment when composers revelled in contrast, invention, and musical freedom. The programme traces the fantastic style (stylus phantasticus) – a compositional style that privileged freedom, fantasy, and dramatic contrasts. across its main centres – from the brilliance of Venice (Castello, Strozzi) and Naples (Kapsberger) to the expressive depth of Vienna (Schmelzer) and Lübeck (Buxtehude).
Música d’Outrora is an internationally based early music ensemble founded in 2022 by Galician conductor and harpsichordist Pablo Devigo.
Performers:
Asako Ueda – violin & theorbo
Timothy Lin – viola da gamba & cello
Pablo Devigo – harpsichord, chamber organ & artistic direction
Louis Moisan – baroque guitar & theorbo
Chun-Yuan – lirone / violone
