About this Event
EARLY REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED!
Let's celebrate the 35th anniversary of Steve Newman's remarkable solo walk around the world which, after four long years, concluded in Bethel, Ohio on April 1, 1987. To commemorate the Worldwalker's historic homecoming, the Bethel Historical Society and Museum is excited to provide the opportunity to join in the celebration on Friday, April 1, 2022 via one of the options below:
  • Option 1: Meet other participants at East Fork State Park for a prompt 10:00 AM departure and walk to Burke Park with the Worldwalker leading the way. (approximately 4.5 miles)
  • Option 2: Join the Worldwalker and other participants as they pass by Grant Career Center and continue the walk to Burke Park. (approximately 1.5 miles)
  • Option 3: Be on site at Burke Park to welcome the Worldwalker and walking group.

East Fork State Park: 3294 Elklick Road, Bethel, Ohio 45106 (Bantam Road entrance)

Grant Career Center: 718 West Plane Street, Bethel, Ohio 45106

Burke Park: 531 West Plane Street, Bethel, Ohio 45106

Important Information to Note:
During the walk, one lane of State Route 125 will be closed in order to provide a safe walking environment. The walk is currently scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM, leaving from the East Fork State Park (Bantam Ranger Station). At the conclusion of the event, shuttle service will be provided from Burke Park to transport walking attendees to their cars parked at either East Fork State Park or Grant Career Center.
Eventbrite online registration ($35 plus fee) will be held January 2-March 18. Mail-in registrations ($35) must be postmarked by March 18. The first 200 registrants are guaranteed event items: commemorative medal, shirt, Rocky Brands coupon, lanyard, and backpack.
Event day registration will ONLY be available from 8:30-9:30 AM at the East Fork location and is CASH or CHECK only with no guarantee of event items.

Registration closes Friday, March 18 @ midnight. Please check our website for updates and additional information!
Event materials are available and encouraged for early pick-up at the Bethel Historical Museum any Saturday in March from 1:00-4:00 PM. If you are unable to do so, your event materials will be available at your starting point.
