Why We Walk
Mental ill-health knows no boundaries.
It does not discriminate based on age, gender, background, financial circumstances or social status. It can affect anyone, at any time.
This walk is held in loving memory of James Marcon.
James was a deeply loved son, brother, friend and colleague. He was intelligent, compassionate and always looking for ways to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
After completing a Bachelor of Pharmacy at Monash University, James volunteered in Nepal and travelled extensively throughout Asia and Europe. He believed passionately in supporting young people and developed a proposal promoting art and music therapy as part of the recovery journey for those experiencing mental health challenges.
Inspired by James’ vision, the James Marcon Youth Health Foundation was established. For the past 12 years, the Foundation has proudly raised funds to support Headspace Art Therapy Programs, helping thousands of young Australians access creative, therapeutic support.
The Difference Your Support Makes
Funds raised support the highly successful NinjaART Programs, delivered through Headspace centres across Melbourne’s north and northwest, including:
• Sunshine
• Werribee
• Glenroy
• Craigieburn
• Melton
• Parkville Hub
These programs help young people to:
Express themselves through creativity in a safe and supportive environment.
Build confidence and self-esteem.
Form meaningful friendships and social connections.
Learn new artistic skills from local artists.
Connect with counselling and other Headspace services.
Improve their overall mental health and wellbeing.
Every step taken and every dollar donated helps provide hope, connection and support for young people and their families.
Join Us
In James’ memory, family, friends and supporters come together each year to walk, remember, raise awareness and help change lives.
We would be honoured if you could join us on Sunday, 4 October 2026.
Together, we can continue James’ legacy and help ensure more young Australians receive the support they deserve.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity and ongoing support.
We look forward to walking with you.
Warm regards,
Mirella, Adrian Marcon and
The James Marcon Youth Health Foundation Committee
