About this Event

AWRC is a specialist charity that has supported black and minoritised ethnic women and thier children for over 45 years. We are a by and for organisation supporting black and minoritised ethnic women, meaning the organisation is led by and rooted in the communities we serve.

We work with women and girls facing domestic abuse and harmful practices, including forced marriage, FGM/FGC, honour based abuse, and dowry abuse. We recognise these as forms of violence rooted in patriarchy and structural inequality, not explained away by culture.

Our approach is intersectional, recognising that race, faith, immigration status, and language all shape a woman's experience. AWRC offers specialist, culturally informed support and training across London.

This Walk to End Violence against women and girls will be led by the Mayor of Brent as a part of a series of initiatives as his chosen charity for 2026-27 (https://www.awrc.org.uk/). Raising awraeness and bringing our communities together in solidarity with survivors. Join us on 10 October at Gladstone Park to stand with us. #EveryStepCounts
