🇹🇭 👇🏻🎷 Step Aside • Live at Smalls 🎶
Step Aside brings together four musicians from very different corners of Thailand’s music scene: saxophonist Hoy “Kritsana” Chitpreecha, guitarist Saharat “Neung” Varasarin, bassist Dr. Tanarat Chaichana and drummer Lester Esteban. Formed in 2025, the group draws on contemporary jazz, improvisation and the individual backgrounds of four players whose work spans university jazz programs, Bangkok clubs, swing, big-band music, indie rock and studio recording.
There are also strong connections inside the lineup. Hoy and Tanarat are both part of the Mahidol jazz community, while Tanarat and Lester already share a long-established rhythm-section connection through projects including Yusu Jazz Band and the Thailand Jazz Orchestra. Saharat brings a different path into the group through his own jazz projects, contemporary guitar work and previous experience with Safeplanet.
