Welcome to the beginning of your babywearing teaching journey!
Whether you are newer to teaching or want to add to your skills as a birth or postpartum professional, this class is for you! An excellent add value to your practice as a perinatal professional, as well as a perfect stepping stone and requirement before Step 2 Babywearing Help consultancy class coming Spring 2027.
Carrying baby is not only helpful but an essential tool that is not only convenient but comes with immense benefit. This workshop will help you to explore how to utilize carriers and model to clients, as well as help them to find a carrier that works well for their needs and teach them how to use it.
- Increase your knowledge on the benefits of baby carrying
- Learn the roll of carriers historically and the evolution of carrier design
- Carrier compliance, labeling and regulations
- How to choose, compare / contrast, and recommend different carrier styles based on a family and baby's needs
- Newborn positioning and Safety Guidelines
- Expand your teaching knowledge via movement and language
- Troubleshooting Carriers
- When to refer out or seek additional input
Having your own carriers is not required as there will be many to see and practice with, but please bring along any you have, as well as a teaching or practice doll if you have one.
Dress comfortably as we'll be moving, sitting, standing and practicing.

Many of us are on call as birthworkers and there may be a last minute situation where you may not be able to attend. Please contact me directly if this is the case.

Laura Brown of Babywearing Help is a career babywearing consultant with almost 20 years of experience teaching, consulting, working with brands and in retail. For almost 5 years she was education for Ergobaby & Tula baby carriers. She has traveled and taught worldwide, is a former board member of the Baby Carrier Industry Alliance, and founded one of the largest babywearing community groups, BabywearingLA. You can also find her teaching at Babylist Registry Weekends and contributing to articles. In addition to being a babywearing consultant & teacher trainer, she is a full spectrum doula, certified lactation educator, child passenger safety technician, sleep consultant and reiki practitioner.
