About this Event
Ever wanted to play steelpan? This is where you start.
Cultural Academy for Excellence (CAFE) is opening our Steelpan Basics Workshop to the community. No experience required. No age limit. Just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
You'll learn the fundamentals of steelpan technique, rhythm, and ensemble playing in a hands-on session led by CAFE instructors. Whether you're a parent who wants to learn alongside your kid, an adult who's always been curious, or a young musician just getting started, this workshop meets you where you are.
What you'll learn:
- Steelpan basics: posture, mallet technique, and note reading
- Rhythm fundamentals rooted in Caribbean musical tradition
- A short group piece you'll play together by the end of the session
Who it's for: All ages, all skill levels. Open enrollment.
