2. - Building (Approvals and Practitioners) Act 2026: What you need to know

  • The Building (Approvals and Practitioners) Bill 2026 received Royal Assent on 14 August 2026, officially enacting the Building (Approvals and Practitioners) Act 2026.
  • Commencement of most of the provisions is not expected until late 2026 or early 2027 (by proclamation as supporting regulations are finalised)
  • David Creais will provide a summary of the headline changes and new regimes to be introduced by the Act
