I am so excited about this new event for our group and hope to make it a yearly thing!! For those of you who want to help deliver the gifts and partake in the little party we will be giving them...we will be meeting at the Tomlin Mill One Stop - 1025 Tomlin Mill Rd, Statesville at 2:15pm, Sunday, December 20th and rolling out at 2:45pm.
This year the chosen place is Olin Village! They currently have 48 residents ranging in age from 30 years old to 87 years old, and after speaking with the director, Kara Lee she advised that sadly, the majority of their residents have no family or friends that hardly ever visit. They are low income residents, and several of them are wardens of the state with no family at all, they only have guardians that rarely visit either.
Our goal is to get at least 48 gifts to provide a gift for every resident there, as well as donations of baked goods or bought snacks to have for our little Christmas delivery party!!
**Side note: If we get an additional 55 gifts on top of the 48 we already need, we will be able to provide one more facility with gifts and I already have that location picked out!**
I will be planning several drop off dates and locations to bring your gifts to me so I can keep track of how many we have. If you are local to Statesville you are also more than welcome to drop them off to me at my work during the week as well!
