About this Event
Join us October 8th for an evening discovering our newly installed exhibition States of Mind.
Curated by Temi Alpha, the exhibition brings together four emerging female artists, recently graduated from UEL, whose practices are shaped by lived experience. Their work explores different aspects of identity, emotion, perception, healing, memory, vulnerability, resilience and recovery, offering personal perspectives on experiences that can often be hidden, misunderstood or difficult to express.
Rather than defining the artists by diagnosis or reducing their practices to their experiences, States of Mind presents them as distinctive emerging voices using art to communicate, question and transform their perspectives. The exhibition does not seek to provide a single definition of what a “state of mind” means, but instead creates space for multiple interpretations and experiences.
Each artist brings their own perspective, allowing audiences to move through different emotional and psychological landscapes within the exhibition space.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of participatory events, including an opening-night spoken word and performance event, a wellbeing-focused creative workshop, and a children's art workshop (to be announced).
The intention is to create an environment where audiences can not only view the artwork, but also reflect, participate and consider what arises within themselves when encountering the work.
